ONE of Cheshire's biggest landowners has revised its plans for a 275-home ‘village’ development on the edge of Knutsford.
The changes come after Tatton Estate's public consultation event over its proposed Bluebell Village development on Manchester Road, A50, held at Charlton Lodge Scout Hut on Thursday, February 29.
Around 60 residents attended to learn more about the proposals and to discuss concerns with Tatton staff and consultants.
A comments box and questionnaires were provided, and residents who couldn’t attend were given the chance to respond to the plans by social media.
Amy Bowden, head of strategic developments for Tatton Estate, describe the feedback as ‘thoughtful’, and confirmed residents' views had been taken on board in making the revisions.
She said: "We are immensely grateful for the community's engagement and the thoughtful feedback provided. It has been instrumental in shaping the revised proposals we've put forward.”
Changes to the plans include more public open space, rerouting of footpaths for better connectivity, and more detail about a proposed new roundabout for accessing the estate from Manchester Road.
Tatton also confimed proposals for a mixed-residential zone have been dropped to allow more flexibility on the location of a care home.
Tatton also proposes to make more money available for speed reduction measures on Manchester Road and Mereheath Lane, as well as a new toucan crossing.
It has also highlighted several opportunities to work with the town council on improved cycling infrastructure and footpaths in the wider Knutsford area.
The new plans have now been submitted to Cheshire East planners for approval, meaning residents will soon be able to comment further via the council’s planning portal.
Any added: "We believe these changes address many of the concerns raised by the community and are proud to have offered additional contributions beyond those required by planning, helping to contribute positively to the local landscape and the town council’s active travel ambitions.”
