A FASCINATING talk is being given on an institution that offered a lifeline for people struggling to survive with no home or job.
Knutsford workhouse provided a home for the destitute, paupers, orphans, the elderly and infirm, pregnant women and abandoned children.
Jenny Collis will describe how different organisations helped people who were unable to support themselves in a talk at Knutsford Heritage Centre on Saturday, March 16, from 2pm to 4pm.

In an illustrated talk, she will explain how and why folk ended up in the workhouse and what life was like on the inside.
Some of the workhouse building still exists at the Community Hospital on Bexton Road.
Tickets priced £12 are available from the Heritage Centre on King Street, which is open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11am to 4pm.
