TWO passengers from Knutsford who failed to buy a tram ticket on the same day have been hit with a £428 court bill.
Kevin Howath, 56, and Lewis Newton, 25, both of Longridge, were unable to produce a valid ticket when requested by an authorised officer at Manchester Victoria on August 16, last year, Manchester magistrates heard.
Magistrates found a charge of entering a Greater Manchester Metrolink vehicle and station without a valid ticket proved when the two cases were heard on January 17.

Each defendant was fined £220 and ordered to pay £120 costs and £88 victim surcharge.
Both were given a month to pay the £428 court penalty.
