A WITNESS has come forward to talk publicly about the alleged ‘inappropriate’ behaviour of a Knutsford Market trader.
Greengrocer Jonty Page was forced to quit his fruit and veg stall last week after losing an appeal against the revocation of his licence.
The 63-year-old trader strongly refutes allegations made against him by Knutsford Town Council.
However, a stallholder who runs Nyx Cat Crystals in the market has now spoken out.
Nicky Facey said: “I saw Jonty and a male companion watching porn. The two of them were sat at the café table nearest his stall.
“The laptop did have porn playing on it as I witnessed it personally.
“I told them: ‘you can’t do that here, it’s inappropriate’.
“I got laughed at as I walked away and then I could hear the audio coming from what they were watching.

“It was shocking and very unprofessional.
“This occurred on a Saturday when a child could have witnessed what was going on in a public place.”
Nicky claims she has also been subjected to ‘humiliating and chauvinistic’ behaviour by Jonty.
“There have been several instances and it got to the point where I needed to say something,” she said.
“I have been overwhelmed by the support I have received since speaking out.”
Jonty is adamant that he did not watch any ‘porn’.
He claims a customer, who was showing him how to buy cryptocurrency, clicked on the sex website as a ‘schoolboy joke’.
Jonty said: “It was stupidness. I’ve had the laptop history printed off by IT experts and it lasted for 21 seconds.
“I am sticking to the truth. I have never watched porn. I know hand on heart I’ve done nothing wrong.
“I was the busiest stall and had 250 customers a week.
“They’re all absolutely gutted that I’ve gone.”
A spokesman for Knutsford Town Council said: “Whilst we do not feel it is appropriate for the town council to debate this matter publicly and rebut each of Mr Page’s statements, we wish to reaffirm that the town council was presented with sufficient first-hand evidence for the allegations.
“We have a fundamentally different knowledge of the events to that presented by Mr Page.
“The town centre committee which considered the appeal did not feel the evidence presented at the hearing by Mr Page refuted the allegations.”
