DELAYS will be experienced along the M6 Southbound after a lorry struck a bridge support.
A full closure has been put in place along junction 16 and 17 near Sandbach after the lorry collided with the top of the bridge, spilling its contents onto the carriageway earlier this morning, Saturday.
It is expected the closure will be in place for the entire morning while structural engineers attend the scene and a clean up operation is put in place.
In pictures supplied by North West Motorway Police, contents inside the truck were scattered along a stretch of the carriageway.
A spokesperson from National Highways said: "Traffic has been STOPPED on the M6 southbound in Cheshire between J17, Sandbach and J16, Crewe, due to a lorry which has struck a bridge support and spilt its load across all lanes of the carriageway."
