A KNUTSFORD driver has been banned from the road for being over the legal alcohol limit.
Thomas Gallagher, of Lady Lane, Mobberley, admitted having 52 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath at Crewe Magistrates on December 14.
The legal limit is 35 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
The 18-year-old was caught over the limit whilst behind the wheel of a Mini Countryman on Castle Mill Lane in Ashley on November 23, this year.
Gallagher was disqualified from driving for 12 months.
Drink driving is a criminal offence that carries an obligatory driving disqualification of a minimum period of 12 months.
This ban can be reduced to three months if he pays to complete a drink driving rehabilitation course before July 7, next year.
Gallagher was also fined £200 and ordered to pay £120 costs and £80 victim surcharge.
Magistrates took his guilty plea into consideration when imposing the sentence.
The defendant must pay the £400 court penalty by January 11, next year.
