Looking ahead it will be another busy year in the constituency.
I’ll be holding my regular community ‘Ask the MP’ sessions and my weekly surgeries, and my diary is also full of visits to schools, businesses, and many other wonderful community events across the constituency.
I will continue daily with casework, helping people on any issue they need my assistance with. Last year 8,000 new pieces of casework were opened bringing the total to 45,000 since I became your MP in addition to the 250,000 emails.
I’m sure local residents will be as concerned as I am about the news that Labour led Cheshire East council is on the verge of bankruptcy. This will mean residents having to pay substantially more for considerably less due to the incompetence of the Council. I will be holding them to account and seeking to minimise the cost to my constituents.
On top of that, I’ll be ensuring the majority of land that was safeguarded for HS2 will be released, which will be a relief to all the constituents affected- and the money saved from HS2 being spent on better transport right across the north.
In 2024 the restoration of the peat bogs will continue with this year marking the 40th anniversary of Lindow Peat being found.
And after getting millions of pounds of more money for potholes in our local area I will continue to push the local councils to use it - and get filling the potholes and resurfacing our roads.
In Knutsford I will work with local residents to oppose any plans by Cheshire East to close Knutsford Leisure Centre - and work with local GPs to get the new Knutsford medical centre.
And in Marbury I’ll be working to get a new Winnington Bridge after the initial incomplete bid put together by Cheshire West and Chester for government funding failed.
May I wish you all a very happy and healthy New Year and if I can help you in anyway with any issue please call the office on 01625 529922 or email me at officeofesthermcveymp@parliament.uk
