A ROAD in Wilmslow has been named among the top 50 streets in Britain to live on.
Hawthorn Lane has been listed as one of the most desirable addresses in Cheshire and the North West.
The street, which leads to the town centre, runs parallel to the River Bollin, which itself is surrounded by parkland on either side.
Sitting in four conservation areas, Hawthorn Lane is lined with Victorian houses before it becomes Broad Walk, where the homes switch to 1930s properties with large plots.
The 2023 average house price in the neighbourhood is £780,626 - well above the average across Cheshire East of £282,387.
Hawthorn Lane was named among Britain's most desirable streets following a study by Knight Frank and The Telegraph.
The research takes the top slice of the deprivation index to identify the best places to live by region (based on crime levels, employment opportunities, quality of the public realm and proximity to schools and transport) before honing in on the highest value LSOAs.
It shows, even when property prices are falling, the desire to live at such addresses means homes in these streets hold their value.
Elsewhere in Cheshire, Macclesfield Road in Prestbury and St George's Crescent in Chester were also named among the top 50 streets. Nearby Stamford Road in Hale, Greater Manchester, also featured in the list.
