RESIDENTS have been evacuated after a number of unknown substances were discovered at a property in Knutsford.
A 100-metre cordon has been set up around an address on Longridge.
Five people have been arrested and a large number of ambulances and firefighters are at the scene.
Police have confirmed that the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit has been called in 'to help establish what the substances are'.
Cheshire Police conducted a warrant at a property at around 7am this morning, Monday.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “Officers are dealing with an ongoing incident at an address in Knutsford.
“A number of unknown substances were found in the address and five people have been arrested.
“Fire and ambulance are in attendance at the scene and a 100-metre cordon has been put in place as a precautionary measure.
“A reception centre for local residents has been set up at Knutsford Leisure Centre.
“Further details will be provided when available.”
