A MUM clocked speeding on a motorway has avoided a ban to keep her job and care for her family.

Katy Maynard, 39, of Holmes Chapel Road, Knutsford, was caught on camera on January 24, this year, driving a Land Rover on the M62 in East Yorkshire at 83mph.

The speed limit is 70mph.

The defendant had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing on August 25 and appeared on a live link at Humber Magistrates Court on November 13 to be sentenced.

Maynard told magistrates her job was at risk if she lost her licence and she would face financial difficulties as a single mum looking after her young family.

Magistrates decided not to impose a totting disqualification due to ‘mitigating circumstances’.

The defendant was fined £476 and ordered to pay £190 victim surcharge and £110 fine.

Her driving licence was also endorsed with three points.

The defendant’s guilty plea was taken into consideration when the sentence was imposed.

Maynard was given until December 11 to pay the £776 court penalty.
