The project has provided hundreds of coats for children since it was launched during the pandemic in 2020.

This is the second fun event organised to distribute more warm winter clothing and treat families to a day out. Founder Gemma Jackson, 41, said: “It was an amazing turnout!

“People genuinely couldn’t believe that everything was free and was quite overwhelmed that we did this for the community.

“It makes me really proud that this idea that I had, that came from nowhere, has turned into a wonderful event where everyone is included and everyone can attend.”

The mum-of-three is passionate about sustainability, keen to prevent clothes going to landfill and support families.

“We gave out 180 coats, 100 goody bags, 100 sweet bags and the free raffle draw was a success too,” said Gemma.

“We were overwhelmed by the kindness of local businesses who donated refreshments, raffle prizes or sponsored the colouring competition.”

Volunteers teamed up to help out on the day, with support from Knutsford mayor Cllr Peter Coan, fire station manager Anthony Naylor and his crew and police community support officer Carlos Paulo.

Ian Cross said: “Thanks Gemma and all your helpers.

“We loved it. We took our granddaughter, Jessica to meet Elsa and she was amazed to meet her as Frozen is her favourite.”

Children were invited to design a scarf in a competition to win prizes donated by local businesses.

Knitted in Knutsford chose the winners and they will have their design hand knitted by Knutsford Christie Bears.
