A DRIVER with no insurance, no MOT and dangerous tyres has been hit with a £1,800 court penalty.

The 56-year-old was caught driving a Toyota on Macclesfield Road on May 1, this year, without a valid third party insurance policy.

The defendant pleaded guilty and was fined £1,267 and ordered to pay £507 victim surcharge and £110 costs.
Magistrates endorsed his driving licence with six points.
Veeraswamy also admitted using the eight-seat passenger vehicle on the same day with tyres with insufficient tread of less than 1.6mm.
The grooves in the tread pattern of the tyre fitted to the front offside wheel of the vehicle were less than 1.6mm deep throughout a continuous band situated in the central three-quarters of the breadth of tread and round the entire outer circumference of the tyre, the court was told.
The defendant also pleaded guilty to having no valid MOT certificate.
Magistrates took his guilty plea into consideration and did not impose further penalties for the two additional charges.
Veeraswamy was given until October 16 to pay the £1,884 court penalty.
