THE Met Office has issued a thunderstorm warning for tomorrow, despite the ongoing heatwave.
Met Office guidance has shown a yellow thunderstorm warning across the north west region, even despite most towns in the region being set to see highs of 25 degrees and up.
Tomorrow, Saturday, September 9, will see the possibility of ‘a few heavy showers and thunderstorms, perhaps leading to some disruption.’
Yellow thunderstorm warnings sees the following possible effects if the showers and thunderstorms occur:
- Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
- Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services
- There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost
- There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds
Following on from this, the forecast for Knutsford sees a 50/50 chance of showers and rain on Sunday and Monday, with the beautiful sunny weather we’ve seen this week seemingly on the edge of breaking.
Despite the thunderstorm warning and chances of rain over the weekend however, Knutsford is still set for a sunny day tomorrow, with a high of 26 degrees.
