AN inquest has been opened into the death of a man hit by a falling tree.
Kamil Pawlowski died on July 9 when walking along a public footpath connecting Kings Road and Styal Road in Wilmslow.
Opening the inquest today (August 2), Coroner Victoria Davis said he was hit by a tree branch which had fallen 25 feet and 'died instantly'.
Mr Pawlowski, of Manchester Road in Wilmslow, was just 35 at the time of his death.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said at the time: “At around 2.15pm on Sunday, July 9, police were called to reports that a man had been hit by a large branch that had fallen from a tree on a public footpath between Styal Road and Kings Road.
"Officers attended the scene and sadly the man, a 35-year-old local man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“His next of kin are aware.
“Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and both the Public Rights of Way department and Heath and Safety Executive have been informed.”
The full inquest for Mr Pawlowski is to be heard on February 14, 2024.
