CHEEKY burglars broke into a house at midnight and drove off in a BMW.

Intruders forced their way into a property on Carrwood Road, a leafy Cheshire lane, near Wilmslow RUFC ground.

The break-in happened shortly after midnight on Wednesday, July 19.

A black BMW X5 was stolen.

It comes just days after a white BMW was taken from outside a property on Gravel Lane.

Police are asking people living nearby to check CCTV cameras for any suspicious activity.

Detectives are appealing to anyone with information to get in touch.

Drivers of keyless cars are being urged to review their security.

Keyless car theft occurs when a device is used to fool the car into thinking the key is close by. This unlocks the car and allows the ignition to be started.

Thieves only need to be within a few metres of a car key to capture the signal.

Police say keyless car theft can take just 20 to 30 seconds.

When at home, drivers are advised to keep their car key, and spare, well away from the car and avoid leaving near doors and windows.

The keys should be kept in a screen tin, box or bag to disrupt the communication range.

A pouch, such as a Faraday bag, is inexpensive and lined with layers of metallic materials.

When a key is inside the pouch, it can block the transmission of the signal from the car key to the vehicle.

Anyone with information about the BMW theft should call Cheshire Police on 101, quoting 23000651113 or send footage to orlo.uk/CkMT0
