A DRIVER clocked speeding at 100mph on a motorway has avoided a ban to protect his job.

Angus Kitcher, of Manchester Road, pleaded guilty to exceeding the 70mph speed limit at Manchester Magistrates Court on July 7.

The 25-year-old was caught on camera driving a Vauxhall Astra Estate car on the M62 westbound between junction 11 and 12 at 100mph on September 19, last year.

Magistrates decided not to impose a totting disqualification after listening to mitigating circumstances.

Kitcher told the court that if he lost his licence it would have an ‘impact upon his job and employer’.

The defendant was fined £246 and ordered to pay a £98 victim surcharge.

His driving licence was endorsed with six penalty points.

Magistrates made no order for costs because of the defendant’s ‘limited means’.

Kitcher was granted permission to pay the £344 court penalty at a rate of £115 per month starting on August 4.
