A MAN has tragically died after being hit by a fallen tree.

A 35-year-old man from Wilmslow died after being hit by a large branch that had fallen from a tree.

The incident happened at around 2.15pm yesterday, Sunday, on a public footpath between Styal Road and Kings Road.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “At around 2.15pm on Sunday, July 9, police were called to reports that a man had been hit by a large branch that had fallen from a tree on a public footpath between Styal Road and Kings Road.

"Officers attended the scene and sadly the man, a 35-year-old local man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“His next of kin are aware.

“Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and both the Public Rights of Way department and Heath and Safety Executive have been informed.”
