A SUMMER ball has raised an incredible £3,000 for a small school with only 97 pupils.

Parents from Peover Superior Primary School organise the event every year and want to thank local businesses for their generous support.

Mum-of-three Janna Whitworth, joint chairman of the parent teacher association, said: “It’s our biggest fundraiser.

“We are so grateful for all the fabulous support from local businesses and the incredible donations for the raffle.

“We only have a tiny school and limited funding so we rely on parental contributions.

“To raise so much money means we can provide some extra treats for the children.”

Around 20 raffle prizes were generously donated by local businesses including tickets for Manchester United and Alton Towers.

Gift vouchers for various other treats ranged from weekend breaks and meals to pamper sessions and perfume.

The ball was held at Cottons Hotel and Spa on Friday.

“We danced the night away to a saxophonist and drummer,” said Janna “We had a great evening.”

Parents also teamed up for a new fundraising event last month.

Headteacher Jo Munro said: “We have absolutely amazing parents.

“We only have 97 pupils.

“Parents came together to raise funds and completed a 24-hour plod, walking through the day and night, raising £1,700.

“We will use the money to get a new screen and sound system in the hall as we don’t have one.

“Funds from the ball will help us to get children out on more trips and learning more.

“We haven’t been able to do many this year because coach costs are so high.

“A massive thank you to all our parents and to everyone who donated raffle prizes.”

Businesses that donated raffle prizes included Manchester United, Alton towers, Pulse of Perfumery, Fox and Hounds, Bells of Peover, The Yellow Broom, NU aesthetics, Cranage Nook Airbnn, Cheshire Dreams Events & Sleepovers, The Colour Code Stylist, Platinum Beauty Cheshire, Holistic beauty by Charlotte, Carrs Silver, The Beeches Golf, Baked by Bean and Nails by Kerry.
