David said: “I am super excited but really nervous.

“It will be a tough competition.”

After 18 years working in salons, he still cherishes his career.

“I love being able to make people feel good about themselves,” he said.

David is one of the top stylists at Saks Knutsford on Minshull Street, where he has worked for just over a year.

Before that, he was based at Saks in Cheshire Oaks.

He is currently studying for his L'Oreal Colour specialist qualification.

David said: "I don't usually do competitions for fear of rejection.

"I was amazed when I heard I'd got through to the final."

With painstaking precision, he spent several hours using different colours to produce a unique look on a model.

“It allows you to be a lot more creative and let your hair down, no pun intended,” said David.

“It is like a magenta baleage bob, with green. Purple is the colour of the year.

“It reminds me of a peacock.”

David now has to work with a different model, as his first model is pregnant and about to give birth.

Saks Knutsford franchisee Paula Wood said: "David is an incredible stylist but to get through to the Loreal Colour Trophy Grand Final is such a huge deal.

“We are really proud of him and his achievements.

“We can’t wait to see his creation on the catwalk in London in July.”
