IMAGINATIVE children have crowned a giant 10-foot metal dinosaur to celebrate the coronation.
Pupils at Goostrey Community Primary School have transformed T Rex in the middle of Holmes Chapel village into C Rex for the historic occasion.
With painstaking precision, they have used recycled and woodland materials to honour King Charles’ passion for the countryside.

The 10-foot recycled sculpture belongs to family run shop Miola on London Road.
In a message to the new king, the children said: “Respecting his majesty’s love of nature, we wove a willow base for the crown and decorated it with jewel fir cones.
“We recycled banners to use as fur on C Rex’s cloak.
“Lots of us had a hand in this.
“We hope we have made you smile on this most special of occasions.”
Owner Louise Metcalfe, who challenged youngsters to decorate the popular figure, said: “The children have done an absolutely amazing job.
“Everything they have put on the dinosaur is recycled.
“Each child cut out their handprint and they have used them to create a frilly ruff collar around the cloak.
“They have even given him size 10 shoes, one on each foot, fastened with purple laces.”
Young boys and girls have been working on the project for several weeks.
“When they finished, they had an assembly to show the rest of the school what they had made,” said Louise.
“The kids got the train from Goostrey to Holmes Chapel with their teachers. It’s nice that it has been a big school project and an outing for them.
“They sat on the terrace to have their lunch and looked at their handiwork.
“Lots of passers-by took pictures and the kids were waving at the bus going by.
“One lady said: ‘Who needs Harry Styles when we’ve got T Rex!’
“Adults love him and the children have been really excited.
“He looks amazing. It just makes people smile and is a bit bonkers.”
Miola, a lifestyle store and coffee and cocktail lounge, will be open throughout the coronation weekend.
“Pimms will be flowing,” said Louise.
“Our chef will be baking British cakes like Bakewall tart and Victoria sponge.
“We’ll have picnic boxes you can buy and take out or you can come and sit on the terrace and have a drink.
“Knitters have made a lovely King Charles. People have said ‘Wow! How amazing does the whole village look.
“We just want everyone to enjoy themselves.”
