A WOMAN jailed for stabbing her elderly mum in the back has been handed more jail time for racially abusing a police officer and sending an offensive message.

Laura Parry, of Ella Grove, Knutsford, was put behind bars for six years at Chester Crown Court on April 20 after pleading guilty to a section 18 assault and possession of a knife.

But the 59-year-old returned to Crewe Magistrates Court just five days later on April 25 to be dealt with for two further offences.

Four months before attacking her mum, on August 14 last year, Parry racially abused a police officer at her home address in Knutsford.

And on October 4, she also sent an electronic message that was grossly offensive or of an menacing nature.

The defendant pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to causing the officer alarm or distress using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour and to sending the message.

Taking her plea into account, Parry was sentenced for both offences to a further total of six weeks in prison.

Magistrates said ‘only a custodial sentence can be justified’ because the offence was committed against an emergency worker and had a racial element.

Parry was also ordered to pay a total of £154 compensation for both offences.

No order for costs was made as the court heard the defendant had insufficient means.
