ESTHER McVey has been confirmed as the Conservative Party candidate standing for Tatton in the next general election.
The incumbent MP for the constituency since 2017, Ms McVey appeared before her Conservative Association selection panel on Wednesday where she set out her platform as to why she should be re-selected.
Created for the 1983 election, the Tatton seat has been held by two other Conservatives - Neil Hamilton (1983-1997) and George Osborne (2001-2017) - and one Independent, Martin Bell (1997-2001).
The next general election is expected to be in 2024 but must take place by the end of January 2025.
Following the announcement, Ms McVey said: "I am absolutely delighted to have been re-selected as the Conservative Party candidate for Tatton.
"It is a real honour and privilege and I will keep working hard for my constituents."
Other candidates confirmed so far to be standing for Tatton in the next election include:
Jonathan Smith, Liberal Democrats
Nigel Hennerley, Green Party
Paul Farragher, True & Fair Party
