A WOMAN who tried to murder a man at Handforth Railway Station has been jailed for three years.
Andrea Reid was charged with the attempted murder of a 20-year-old following an incident at the station last summer.
Reid, of Clough Avenue, Wilmslow, appeared in Chester Crown Court on January 9 to be sentenced, after admitting the offence on November 17 last year.
The court heard officers were called to Handforth Station shortly after 7pm on July 26, 2022, following concern for the welfare of two people.
Reid was arrested at the scene.
The 53-year-old appeared at Warrington Magistrates' Court the next day where she was remanded in custody until her next appearance.
The man did not sustain any injuries.
At the time, detectives investigating the incident appealed for witnesses to come forward, but reassured the public it was an 'isolated incident'.
Sentencing at crown court, Judge Simon Berkson handed Reid a three-year prison sentence.
Following the court hearing, Detective Sergeant Graham Marshall-Batey, from British Transport Police, said: "This was a complex and distressing case for all involved and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the officers for their sensitivity in investigating the incident."
