A DRIVER caught using a mobile phone behind the wheel has avoided a ban.
Edward Williams, of Knutsford Road, Alderley Edge, was clocked using a hand-held phone whilst driving a Volkswagen on May 20, this year.
The 60-year old pleaded guilty to the offence at Bangor on the eastbound A55 in Gwynedd, when he appeared at Mold Magistrates Court on November 22.

His driving licence was endorsed but magistrates did not impose any separate penalty.
Williams also pleaded guilty to driving without third party insurance at the same time.
For this offence, he was fined £120 and ordered to pay £90 costs and £34 victim surcharge.
His licence was endorsed with six penalty points.
Magistrates took his guilty plea into account when imposing the sentence.
Williams was given until December 20 to pay the £244 court penalty.
