Firefighers have freed a person from a car after a crash involving three vehicles on the M62.
Two fire engines from Birchwood and Warrington rushed to the motorway carriageway at 10.22am.
A fire service spokesperson confirmed that the air ambulance has also been requested.
This came after reports of a three-vehicle road traffic accident heading eastbound between junctions 10, M6 exit, and 11, Birchwood.
Lanes two, three and four are currently closed.
Highways England expect the incident to be cleared by 12.30pm, and normal traffic conditions to return by 1.30pm.
