THE mayor of Knutsford is embarking on a gruelling challenge.
Cllr Mike Houghton plans to ride 24 hours non-stop to raise funds for his charities.
He will be mounting his bike at 4pm on Friday, October 7 at Anytime Fitness in Canute Place.
Cllr Houghton said: “I have set myself an ambitious challenge this year in raising enough money to support Knutsford Scouts where they most need help - and to establish a Men’s Shed in Knutsford next year.

“Both with a mission of promoting positive mental health.
“I want to undertake an equally ambitious challenge that I hope will capture people’s attention and inspire local residents to support me."
Anyone who wishes to cycle with the mayor for a few minutes or even a few hours, is very welcome.
A ‘buddy bike’ will be available for anyone wishing to join him or simply sit and keep him company.
“I will be cycling non stop for 24 hours with only a 10 minute comfort break every four hours,” said Cllr Houghton.
“I am looking for as much support as possible to push me through.
“Any donation will be hugely appreciated.”
