STUDENTS hugged each other with joy at Knutsford Academy after receiving outstanding achievements in their exam results.
Performances in both GCSEs and level 2 qualifications were hailed a huge success.
Kizzy Nyman and Miles Padget achieved 15 grade 9s between them and couldn’t stop smiling.
Kizzy, who gained eight grade 9s, 7 in English and 8 in French, said: "I'm very pleased. I didn’t expect to get all of these great results.
“I really wanted a 9 in art as it is my favourite subject. I have always loved creative things."
Mum Helen, waiting outside, was overcome with emotion when she heard her results.
Hugging her daughter, Helen said: "I couldn't be more proud. She's amazing. She just cracked on and worked super hard.
"For her final art piece, she did a beautiful portrait of her grandad, Ted McNulty, who has just died. She absolutely adored him and he was always so proud of her."
Miles, who plays piano and guitar, was on cloud nine after achieving seven grade 9s.
“I’m very happy,” he said. “It was a bit of a surprise. I called my mum and she is very proud of me.”
He plans to study maths, physics and chemistry A levels and music BTEC.
“It was hard to keep motivated working in my bedroom during Covid but we had a lot of support from our teachers.”

Headteacher James Whittaker said: "Our school has a strong track record of academic excellence and this year, despite the continued difficulties we have faced, that record is no different.
"Our students have achieved incredibly well across the full range of GCSE and level 2 qualifications, reflecting our consistent ambition for academic excellence.
“High levels of achievement are a culmination of hard work and high quality teaching.
“I would like to recognise the outstanding work of our teachers and support staff who play a vital role in supporting students to achieve their full potential.”
George Bradley, who gained grade 8s in maths and business, said: “The remote stuff was a big difficult but I don’t think we missed out on too much.”
Guiem Studinger, who achieved grade 8 in maths, said: “I’m thinking of a career in architecture.”
Diego Coward, who was thrilled with his English language results, said: “I hope to get an apprenticeship at Jaguar Land Rover and then maybe, one day, buy a Land Rover”
Darcy Brotherton said: "I'm really happy with my results. It was stressful but it has paid off."
Lucy Buckles said: “I got what I wanted. It was quite hard to focus working at home during the pandemic but once we got into the swing of it we were OK.
“There was a good support system at school.”
Erin Byrne said: “My best result was art. It has been quite hard but we’ve had a lot of support from our teachers.”
Emma Routs, who gained grade 8 in business studies, said: “I’m very happy with this as I want to pursue a career in business.”
Ellie Babington, who sat nine GCSEs, said: “I’m pleased, my results were really good.
“It was a bit stressful studying through the pandemic but we had a lot of support.”
