A PICNIC in the park has been hailed a huge success.
Around 80 members of Holmes Chapel and District u3a enjoyed an afternoon at the Victoria Club.
Local band 5 Bar Blues entertained the audience with two and a half hours of live music.
This community group now has more than 65 different groups offering to share a wide range of hobbies and interests.
A showcase of the various activities on offer is being held to give encourage more people to join.

The open day will be held on Saturday, August 20 from 10.30am to 12.30pm at Holmes Chapel Scout HQ on Parkway.
Peter Shields, deputy chairman of Holmes Chapel u3a, said: “The showcase is an opportunity to meet the group leaders, members and committee members and discuss what we do and see some of our groups displaying their wares.
“We have over 65 different groups across a wide range of interests, enjoyed by 780members from Holmes Chapel and surrounding villages and towns.”
The u3a is a registered charity run by members for members.
Interest groups bring members together to share experiences, activities and learning and have fun.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available free to members and visitors at the event.
It is hoped that local residents will come along and discover what the group has to offer.
Membership is £9 and there are no educational or age restrictions.
