A WILDLIFE hospital that offers a lifeline for injured and orphaned animals is making an urgent plea.
Lower Moss Wood Nature Reserve desperately needs to raise vital funds.
A live gig is being held at Chelford Village Hall on Saturday, July 30 from 7pm until late.
Founder and warden Ray Jackson MBE will be performing as lead singer and guitarist with his band Slug.
Staff were overwhelmed with support from the community when a colossal 70-feet beech tree threatened to crush a classroom at the nature reserve near Knutsford.
The office and classroom had to be closed until the 200-year-old tree was made safe.
Education is a top priority. The reserve hosts school and educational visits on a regular basis.
Wellwishers donated more than £2,000 and tree surgeons at UK Landscape UK offered to carry out the work free of charge.
Donations were ploughed into the reserve but the charity is still struggling to meet expenses.
Vicky Boag-Munroe, who works at the nature reserve between Over Peover and Marthall, said: ”It costs a huge amount to run the reserve.
“Just heating and electric bills are so high for us as we have incubators running and freezers for the food.
“The cost has shot up. We would really appreciate as much support as possible.”
Roberts Bakery in Northwich has generously donated bread and snacks for the event.
Local businesses are invited to donate raffle and tombola prizes.
Spa treatments and rounds of golf have already been pledged.
“This is a great opportunity for us to thank the local community,” said Vicky.
“It is a chance for our volunteers and staff to talk to people in person and thank people for all their support.
“We are really looking forward to it.”
