KNUTSFORD’S best rated GP surgeries for 2022 have been revealed, according to the patients that use them.
The results of the GP Patient Survey 2022 show almost all surgeries’ overall approval ratings (in Knutsford and surrounding areas) have decreased in the past year, the most by 19 per cent.
The survey measures patients’ experiences across a range of topics, including making an appointment, if needs were met during appointments and trust in doctors.
Alderley Edge Medical Centre was named the best surgery in Knutsford and surrounding areas for 2022 according to patients, with an overall approval rating of 92 per cent.
This is the same as its 2021 result – every other surgery in the surrounding areas dropped in its approval rating since last year.
The national approval rating average across England for 2022 is 72 per cent – a considerable fall from 83 per cent last year, showing issues facing the health sector as a whole.
Practices' overall approval ratings are:
Alderley Edge Medical Centre: 92 per cent (92 per cent in 2021)
Chelford Surgery: 91 per cent (95 per cent in 2021)
Handforth Health Centre: 88 per cent (96 per cent in 2021)
Knutsford Medical Partnership (including Toft Road surgery, Manchester Road Medical Centre and Annandale Medical Centre): 84 per cent (94 per cent in 2021)
Kenmore Medical Centre: 79 per cent (88 per cent in 2021)
Holmes Chapel Health Centre: 77 per cent (82 per cent in 2021)
Wilmslow Health Centre: 68 per cent (87 per cent in 2021)
In terms of getting through to surgeries via the phone, Chelford Surgery came top, with 93 per cent of people saying it was ‘easy’.
This is compared with just 40 per cent at Wilmslow Health Centre – below the national average of 53 per cent.
Patients at Kenmore and Alderley Edge rated their practices top for meeting their needs during appointments, with 96 per cent saying their needs were met.
Wilmslow came bottom with 88 per cent – still above the national average of 81 per cent however.
Handforth Health Centre came top in one of the categories - 98 per cent of patients said they had confidence and trust in the healthcare professional they spoke to at their last appointment.
This is compared to 88 per cent at Wilmslow – below the national average of 93 per cent.
