A subsequent blood test recorded 10ug/L of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, an ingredient of cannabis, in his blood.

The legal limit for this breakdown product is 2ug/L.

Magistrates banned Duffy from holding or obtaining a driving licence for three years and endorsed his driving record.

Disqualification is obligatory for this offence, the court heard.

The defendant was also fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £34 victim surcharge.

Duffy also pleaded guilty to being in possession of £200 worth of cannabis on the same day.

The drugs were forfeited and destroyed and he was fined a further £80 for this offence.

Magistrates took his guilty pleas into consideration when imposing the sentence.

Duffy was granted permission to pay the £319 court penalty at a rate of £20 per month starting on August 8.
