A WOMAN trapped after a two-car crash has been taken to hospital after being rescued by firefighters.

The collision happened on Dean Row Road in Wilmslow shortly before 3pm on Sunday, July 10.

The crash involved two cars, a VW Golf and a Toyota Yaris.

Firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to remove a smashed door from one of the vehicles to free the casualty.

A spokesman for Wilmslow Fire Station said: “One female with minor injuries was physically trapped.

"Crews stabilised the vehicle and removed the door with the ‘jaws of life’.”

The woman had minor injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics.

A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust said: “We took a woman to hospital.”

The road was closed whilst emergency services dealt with the incident.

One fire engine from Wilmslow attended.
