HUNDREDS of people turned up to a fun day at the weekend, aimed at introducing families and children to the joys of golf.
Supported by Rose Ladies Series Winner Jae Bowers, European Tour winner Carly Booth and the Golf Foundation, families were entertained at High Legh Park Golf Club with a variety of games including long drive, golf goals, chipping and putting challenges.
There were lots of winners from the day including four-year-old Jesse Hutchinson who scooped the U6 Long Drive Trophy.
Organised by High Legh Golf Club general manager Stuart Buckley, captains Liam Rex and Tracey Taylor, their teams and the academy manager Gavin Beddow, visitors also enjoyed free Justin Rose Academy lessons, face painting and a barbecue hosted by High Legh’s new head chef Craig Kirk, who recently joined High Legh from 18 The Cross in Lymm.
Buckley said: “The event was open to the public and free to attend. We were delighted with how many people came along.
"It was a wonderful celebration of club members working with the community to inspire new people to the game.
"For the first time ever the Captain’s Day presentation was shared with fun day winners, creating a wonderful atmosphere in the clubhouse at the end of the day.
“Through our Justin Rose Academy, we are offering hundreds of free 'get into golf' lessons for the community to enjoy.
"We also have junior, ladies and family group sessions too. Anyone interested can find out more at our Justin Rose Academy website.”
