A DRINK driver was caught behind the wheel of a 1.5 ton mini digger while more than twice the legal limit.
Hughie Fury, of Stanneylands Road, Styal, appeared at Crewe Magistrates Court on Monday, June 20, to face two charges of drink driving and one of using a vehicle without insurance.
The charges relate to an incident on May 22 this year when 26-year-old was got behind the wheel of a mini digger, as well as a car, in Stanneylands Road while over the limit.
A breath test revealed there were 79 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of his breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
It was also confirmed Fury was uninsured to operate the digger.
After taking his guilty pleas to all charges into account, magistrates banned him from the roads for 22 months, which can be reduced by 22 weeks should he complete a driving course.
The court also fined him a total of £650 and ordered him to pay costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
Fury was given until September 19 to pay the total court bill.
