SOARING energy bills and rising food prices have left many residents feeling anxious and worried about making ends meet.
Debt help charity Christians Against Poverty (CAP) urges anyone concerned about their finances to seek advice as soon as possible.
Trained volunteers are on hand in Knutsford, Northwich and Winsford to provide a free, confidential counselling service.
Local CAP debt coach Barney Howard says people don’t have to struggle on their own or feel embarrassed about asking for support.
The north east Cheshire CAP debt centre manager said: “We’re here to help with understanding, compassion and it is completely free of charge.
“We see too many people try to deal with these issues for too long on their own.
“This can lead to all sorts of problems with their health, home life and wellbeing.
“People can be in debt through all sorts of reasons such as low income, job loss, bereavement or illness.
“You don’t need to struggle alone.”
A team of friendly volunteers is on hand to help families and individuals escape from debt.
“We have knowledge and expertise to offer practical and emotional support,” said Barney.
“If anyone has difficulty filling in forms or understanding paperwork, we can help.
“Sometimes it can be overwhelming when you’ve got so many bills to pay and not enough money.
“Together, we can find a solution.”
The charity has already transformed the lives of hundreds of people and empowered them with skills to manage their own money.
“People are just so amazed and happy when they can sort out their finances,” said Barry.
“We ring a bell every time someone comes out of debt.
“It can be a long journey but people say they feel enormous relief.
“Our objective is to relieve poverty and enable people to recover from it.
“We want to give people confidence so they can learn how to manage money and help sort their problems.”
