A KNUTSFORD man has avoided jail despite attacking a woman.
Simon Lovatt, of Springwood Avenue, pleaded guilty to two counts of assault by beating at Chester Magistrates' Court on Monday, March 14.
The 45-year-old had committed the offences just two days prior on March 12.
Taking his guilty plea into account, magistrates handed him a 12-week prison sentence, but suspended it for two years.
The reasons for imposing a custodial sentence were given as the nature and seriousness of the offences and Lovatt's previous convictions.
Lovatt must also complete a rehabilitation activity requirement up to a maximum of 20 days.
Magistrates also ordered him to pay a victim surcharge of £128 and costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
