A KNUTSFORD man could face a spell behind bars after admitting the false imprisonment of a person.
Stuart Paul McPhee, of Longridge, was set to face trial on two other charges when he appeared at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday, February 22.
The 45-year-old had already admitted to the more serious charge of falsely imprisoning Daniel Edwards on February 18, 2021.
However, McPhee initially denied two other charges in connection with the incident including assaulting Mr Edwards and stealing a mobile phone belonging to him.
Before a jury could be called and sworn in, the defendant was re-arraigned on the assault charge and promptly entered a guilty plea.
Matthew Dunford, prosecuting, said the crown would not seek a case of issue in relation to the theft of the mobile phone.
McPhee was released on bail and told to return to court on Friday, March 25, when he will be sentenced.
As part of his bail conditions, McPhee will be subject of an electronically monitored curfew between the hours of 7pm and 7am.
He was also told not to contact either Mr Edwards, or the victim's father.
Judge Michael Leeming told McPhee that he shouldn't take the fact he has been released on bail as a sign he will not be handing out a custodial sentence.
