TRIBUTES have been paid to former Knutsford mayor Tony Want who died at the weekend.
Conservative Cllr Want served as mayor from 2009 to 2010 and represented the Nether ward from 2005 to 2011.
Knutsford Town Council is flying a flag at half mast in his memory.
Knutsford mayor Cllr Stewart Gardiner said: "I enjoyed working with Tony. He was a very astute gentleman on the council.
"He was very unassuming and always got on with the job very effectively, doing it in his own quiet way.
"He wasn't one for blowing his own trumpet.

"He was very interested in trying to keep relations between us and our twin towns alive.
"I remember a delegation of people coming over from our French twin town Montmorency for his Mayoral Ball at Tenants' Hall in Tatton Park.
"He was a very active member of Knutsford Lions and the Royal British Legion."
Cllr Gardiner remembers watching Tony perform on stage with the Lions in an entertaining show for elderly residents.
"I am very sorry to hear about his passing and pass my condolences to his wife Jenny and family at this sad time."
Former Cllr Want raised money for three charities during his term in office, Toft Taverners, Knutsford and District Lions Club and the Knutsford branch of the Royal British Legion.
His wife Jenny served as a councillor from 2007 to 2011.
