A DRIVER has been fined £1,000 and banned from the road after admitting doing almost double the speed limit.
Richard Cooke, 42, of Handforth Road, Wilmslow, pleaded guilty at Tameside Magistrates Court to exceeding the 40mph speed limit on January 12 last year.
The defendant was caught on camera driving a BMW at 71mph on Princess Parkway near the M60 motorway in Manchester.

Magistrates banned Cooke from holding or obtaining a driving licence for six months 'due to repeat offending' and endorsed his licence.
The defendant was also ordered to pay £100 costs and £90 victim surcharge.
The bench took his guilty plea into consideration when imposing the sentence on January 7.
Cooke was given permission to pay the £1,190 penalty at a rate of £10 per week starting on February 4, 2022.
