GOOSTREY residents will have the chance the remember Rose Days from years before as part of a special film evening in the village.
The special day in the village's diary will on show in the village hall on Friday, January 14, where two films will be shown.
Rachel Kolker’s film, 'A Summer in Goostrey' from 2016-17 in which Rose Day features, and an episode from the 1976 Granada TV series Goostrey – A Village, which shows how the Rose Queen was chosen back then.
For those who have not seen the Granada series, it gives a unique insight into life in village life almost half a century ago.
Chair of the Rose Day Committee Chris Burgess said: "After two years of curtailed events because of the pandemic, the committee is working towards a full-scale Rose Day on June 25, 2022.
"That’s why we wanted to remind people of previous Rose Days and tell those who are new to the village what it is all about.
"As well as showing the films we’ll be letting parents know what they need to do to ensure their children can take part in the procession through Goostrey on Rose Day and they will hear all about the activities on the village hall field.
"We’ll also explain how the Rose Queen, Rosebud Queen and their attendants are chosen.
"Admission for the event, which starts at 7.30pm on Friday, January 14, is free but we would ask people to visit the Rose Day Facebook page and book in so we know how many people are thinking of coming.
"Doors open at 7pm and there’s a cash bar.
"Everyone coming to the event is asked to take a Covid lateral flow test and to only attend if it proves to be negative."
