DRUGS which could be worth more than £250,000 were seized by police when they stopped a car near Knutsford.

A large quantity of class A drugs, believed to be MDNA tablets with an estimated street value of between £250,000 and £500,000 were found.

Officers from Cheshire Constabulary's Roads and Crime Unit stopped a pink Ford Mustang on the M6 southbound between junction 18 and 19 at around 1.30am today.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers discovered a large quantity of what are believed to be MDNA tablets with an estimated street value of between £250,000 and £500,000.

The driver of the car, a 31-year-old woman from Swanley, and the passenger, a 38-year-old man from Gravesend, were both arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

The driver was also arrested on suspicion of drug driving.

The pair are currently in police custody where they are assisting officers with their enquiries.
