TWO drivers were caught using a mobile phone on the motorway within minutes.
North West Motorway Police stopped both motorists this morning and issued them with a fixed penalty notice, also known as a traffic offence report or TOR.

Both drivers were fined £200 and given six penalty points on their licence.

Police remind road users that is illegal to use a handheld mobile phone or similar device when driving, stopped at traffic lights or queuing in traffic.

Motorists will receive a fine of £200 and 6 penalty points if you are caught using a handheld phone while driving.
Points on your licence could result in higher insurance premiums.
It is also illegal to ride a motorcycle or drive using hand-held phones or similar devices.
The rules are the same if you’re stopped at traffic lights or queuing in traffic.
It is also illegal to use a hand-held phone or similar device anything that a call can be made on, such as a tablet device or phones which are part of a wrist watch, when supervising a learner driver or rider.
