WEAVER Valley Cycling Club duo Emily Martin and Sam Taylor continue to deliver impressive results this season.
In the SCCA and WCTTCA 100 mile time trial, Martin won the women’s event in a club record 4hrs 13mins 09secs, while Taylor was seventh in the men’s event in 3:56.42 The winner, David Parkin of Chorley Cycling Club, completed the course in 3:42.38.
These times were good enough for Martin to win the Manchester & District Time Trial Association Women’s Championship (sixth overall) as well as the handicap championship; and for Taylor to finish third.
In the Manchester and District Ladies invitational 10 mile time trial, Martin again won a close race beating Charlotte Boothman into second place by one second with a winning time of 23.18.
She also won the invitational combined result as she was teamed with the overall male winner Adam Duggleby, forming an unbeatable pairing.
Meanwhile, in road racing, Jeff Wood competed in the second round of the TLI Super 4 series held on the fast Pimbo Course.
Right from the start the pace was frantic, with numerous attacks as riders attempted to break from the bunch.
Wood hung on and finished to win his age group, with the overall winner being Jack Crook of the Dolan Ellesse Race Team.
