FAMILIES will be saying goodbye to lockdown by celebrating with a chippy tea, new research has revealed.
The iconic fish and chips has landed top spot in a study to find out what meal the UK will order for their last lockdown supper ahead of July 19 and Freedom Day.
A nationwide poll by Foodhub, one of the UK’s leading food ordering apps, reveals that almost one in five will be ordering fish and chips the night before lockdown ends.
But the iconic chippy tea was run close by curry (16 per cent) and pizza (12 per cent).
Takeaway orders have enjoyed a huge increase over lockdown, with more than a quarter of Brits admitting they now order twice as many takeaways as they did pre-lockdown, with one in five ordering a takeaway at least once a week.
And while fish and chips may come out on top as the dream lockdown last supper, the most popular ordered cuisine over lockdown was Chinese, narrowly followed by pizza.
Ardian Mula, Foodhub spokesman, said: “Britain has been loving its takeaway treats over lockdown, with over a quarter admitting to ordering twice as often as before lockdown.
“The UK loves a good chippy tea so it’s great to see fish'n'chips voted as the UK’s most popular last lockdown supper. Foodhub has plenty of options for ordering that chippy tea on our app and website.”
To celebrate Freedom Day Foodhub is offering customers 10 per cent off on the Foodhub app and website until Wednesday, July 21. Simply add code FREEDOM10 at the checkout.
