EARLY risers might catch a glimpse of Jane Ainley helping her teenage daughter Eleanor to deliver papers on Saturday and Sunday mornings in Goostrey.

But this mum is about to appear in another role in a television sitcom after filming has been completed partly in Cheshire.

The 51-year-old actor has been 'resting' in lockdown because of the coronavirus pandemic but jumped at the chance to take the part of the cleaner, Gloria, in Green Fingers screening on Amazon.

In the sitcom written by Helen Tunnicliffe, she appears in a reshoot of episode one along with Tina Malone, one of the stars of Shameless, together with its stars Velton Lishke and Pete Bennett, Big Brother winner of 2006.

Several episodes are already being streamed and received wide acclaim from viewers and critics.

Now Jane is set to appear in a feature film, this time a psychological thriller called Keep Breathing.

In the movie, she plays Elizabeth the mother of the victim of a brutal attack, with filming to be completed in a dramatic ending in Macclesfield later this year.

"We are both broken and haunted so a big change from a sitcom," says Jane.

Born in Knutsford and brought up in Over Peover, Jane began an interest in acting at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School followed by Knutsford High School.

After Eleanor was born she took time off as she grew up and relaunched her acting career two years ago only to be hit by the coronavirus lockdown after a walk-on part in Hollyoaks and Coronation Street as Ceri Farnham, the events lady for the Weatherfield Gazette.

"It was a real blow when lockdown happened because I felt my acting had really taken off again," said Jane.

"But I am happy that work is now picking up and it was only two weeks after filming Green Fingers I was in York to film Keep Breathing."

Later in the year, Jane has another role lined up in a pantomime as the evil stepmother in a production by a new company of Snow White to be performed at Byley Village Hall between Christmas and New Year for the Toy Appeal.
