YOUNG gardeners are looking to take their award-winning allotment to the next level.
The allotment at Manor Park Primary School had a mini-refurbishment about two years ago using donations from the MPSA and the School Council.
Since then it has gone from strength to strength, and under the guidance of Mrs Rogers, the school came second at the Arley Gardening Challenge last June.
This year the newly-formed Garden Gang will be focusing on attaining RHS levels 4 and 5.
The Garden Gang are a group of year 4 and 5 pupils who are mentors to their peers, helping Mrs Rogers every week with gardening tasks. Recently the Garden Gang made slug repellents from copper coins and wood.
Some of the Gang went to Fryers Roses, using money they had raised through selling shares and from the Christmas Fair, to buy plants and seeds for this season’s growing and some other items which will be part of redeveloping the Sensory Area.
