A BID to build a new Scout hut on the Moor has been boosted after it was announced an annual event attended by hundreds of Knutsfordians would support the proposal.
The annual Knutsford Jog, staged by the town's Rotary club, is being held around the Moor on Sunday, March 13.
The 1st Knutsford Scouts Group want to replace the current headquarters on the Moor with a new, larger modern purpose built timber clad unit to facilitate accommodation for Explorers, Scouts, Cubs, Beavers Girl Guides, Brownies and Rainbows as well as all their leaders.
There are four Scouting groups in the area, membership is increasing and further funds are needed for more equipment. Last year they achieved 46 awards including 22 Duke of Edinburgh awards and spent 800 nights away camping.
Bill Ogley, president of Knutsford Rotary Club, said: "This year is a special occasion because we are supporting the local Scout groups, which includes Explorers, Scouts, Cubs and Beavers.
"That is a total of about 500 young Knutsford people. They plans to build a new hut on the Moor that will also be used by the Girl Guides, Brownies and Rainbows. Also, the other three Scout groups need to replace lots of equipment.
"This is a wonderful opportunity to support so many children in our town. But don't forget, joggers can specify that half of the money they collect can be sent to a charity or good cause of their choice."
The Jog is supported this year by the Rotary, Guy Salmon, the Knutsford Guardian, Ultimate Creative Communications, UPA, Sheldons, amongst many others.
The Jog takes place on March 13 on 9.30am with registration, start time of 10.30am, with it expected to end at 11.30am.
Application forms are available from Knutsford Leisure Centre, with joggers registering on the day.
