CHELFORD Ward will see three candidates compete to take the one seat available at Cheshire East Council.
Green Party, Liberal Democrats and the Conservatives have all put up candidates.
Green candidate Kakoli Pratim Chaudhuri said: "I live in Chelford with husband and two young daughters.
"As an ex-civil servant, I have seen actions of the present and past government negatively affecting people.
"I believe basic necessities of life like housing, transport, healthcare, utilities should not be provided through profit driven organisations.
"Britain needs a government that puts people first, and a change from business as usual politics. So let's be part of the Change.
"A Change that will make our economy stable and stronger, and Britain a better and stronger nation.
"Vote for Yourself, Vote for Change, Vote Green."
Roger Barlow, Liberal Democrat candidate, said: "Conservative dominance has meant that the new Cheshire East authority runs as a one party state, with inadequate discussion and scrutiny.
"That probably explains its frequent appearances in Private Eye’s infamous 'Rotten Boroughs' column, especially over the Lyme Green fiasco, where £696,000 was spent on a waste transfer station which now can’t be used, and the big pay-offs to departing officials.
"Frankly, those associated with Lyme Green should be hanging their heads in shame, and to come back to the voters seeking re-election on a platform of financial responsibility is total cheek.
"As a resident and voter I’m ashamed that my council and councillors should be an object of national scorn for their incompetence, so I’m standing in the hope that we can rebuild Cheshire’s reputation by building a robust Liberal Democrat opposition to one-party rule.
"I know the area well: I and my wife have lived in Plumley for 30 years, our two children went to Lower Peover Primary and Knutsford High School. In my day job I’m a physics professor, working with particle accelerators from the LHC to the proton therapy machines at Clatterbridge and the Christie."
George Walton, Conservative candidate, said: "I would be delighted to be re-elected to Cheshire East Borough Council at the forthcoming election on Thursday to continue to represent the residents of the Chelford Ward.
"I will be working throughout the ward alongside the existing seven Parish Councils and will still attend their regular meetings, following up on any pertinent local issues raised and making representations, as appropriate, on behalf of the residents.
"Rural crime and dangerous driving, including speeding, are increasingly of concern to our rural communities.
"Some lower speed limits, albeit not always universally popular, have already been introduced, but I think there is more to be done to make our country lanes safer.
"The whole area of the Chelford Ward is a special place and I will continue to endeavour to protect and preserve our local environment including the much valued Green Belt land.
"I will strive to ensure that the opinions of residents are fully taken into account as new local planning policies emerge.
"The rollout of Broadband is almost complete and I shall continue to encourage high-tech employment opportunities together with the development of innovative businesses which are increasingly important to our local economy."
