IN common with all Knutsfordians, The Knutsfordian is spending much time with his barometer trying to predict what the weather will bring for the town’s illustrious 150th Royal May Day on Saturday.
At the time of penning his column, The Knutsfordian’s weather app is predicting 10 degrees and sunny intervals. Let us hope this prediction comes true as this year of all years, Knutsfordians do not want to see rain on their parade.
Knutsford is looking its best this week.
The Knutsfordian is delighted to see the wonderful window displays adorning our retailers’ shops heralding May Day.
A veritable plethora of May Queen crowns past have been ingeniously added to shop windows to create a competition both for children and retailers.
The Knutsfordian is looking forward to the day and trusts the erstwhile May Day committee will surprise Knutsfordians with something royally special.
The committee works hard every year to bring us this day although some do accuse them of keeping their plans too close to their fine chests.
Knutsfordians should be proud of having maintained such a tradition for so long in an age where many such festivals are deemed old-fashioned and fuddy-duddy.
While The Knutsfordian is contemplating things old-fashioned and fuddy-duddy, he is reminded of bumping into Nigel Farage who turned up in town last week.
The Knutsfordian availed himself of the opportunity to have a pint with Nigel but like many inferior ales, found the man all gas and no ‘body’.
Unlike Knutsford Town councillor Tony Dean, The Knutsfordian was not caught on the BBC North West Tonight camera.
The Knutsfordian watched with interest as Clr Dean’s wife Gill Weeks talked of Nigel’s ‘interesting policies’. In 2015 will we see yet another family member join the ranks of town councillors?
At the moment, the town council has a brother and sister, a married couple, and a civil partner couple.
PS Knutsfordians who don’t read The Knutsfordian’s column online will have missed two comments on last week’s article.
flashpoint said: I think the opinions of the ‘Knutsfordian’ are now starting to grate. Time to call it a day...
In reply, mostynthecat said: It is a free country, flashpoint – you don’t have to read his opinions, but personally I think it is refreshing to read someone, who obviously does his research and knows what is happening in local government - both in the town and East Cheshire.
After all, the other option is the propaganda that comes through our letterboxes as the council newsletter (any idea how much that costs us - anyone?).
The Knutsfordian welcomes all comments on his columns but is purring with delight over the words from mostynthecat, obviously a very wise puss.
PPS News of a town centre ice rink coming to town this Christmas made The Knutsfordian throw a few moves to Ice Ice Baby. Not so much hip hop as hip op.
