TOWN councillors decided against naming its new meeting room after a past Knutsfordian this week.
The council has recently renovated two of the the downstairs rooms – the former home of the tourist information office – at its Toft Road base.
Councillors were asked to come up with people who the room could be named after. Suggestions included naming the larger of the two rooms the Penny Room, the Parr Room, Gaskell Room, Higgins Room, the George Moneypenny Room or the Frances Sharpe Room.
A further suggestion included simply naming it the ‘Lower Council Chamber’.
After a lengthy discussion, which was followed by a vote, councillors decided to name the new room the ‘Lower Council Chamber’. The smaller of the town rooms was to be named the ‘Committee Room’.
